Therapy Online

Change begins by connecting to the parts of yourself what you would rather avoid.

Perhaps you know the feeling: You find it hard to say what you need because it feels like taking up too much space—and because something inside you says it is safer to stay quiet.

You know rationally exactly what you should do. But when you are in the situation, the urge to do what you usually do arises. More knowledge is not the answer. There is something inside you that drives you to act in a way you deep down do not want to.

It is rarely a conscious choice. It is an inner logic that has worked for a long time: say that you are fine, even when you feel unsure and need to understand something. And hope that others figure out what you need on their own—without you having to say it. When they do not, disappointment hits. And then you withdraw.

You end up in the same either-or trap: Either you over-adapt to protect the relationship, or you distance yourself to protect yourself. Both lead to the same outcome—a loneliness where you rarely feel truly seen, because you never quite give others the opportunity to do so.

New tools rarely change these reactions when they are deeply rooted in your nervous system and your history. Therapy is about feeling what drives your automatic need to adapt—not analyzing it, but experiencing it. So that you can be present in your relationships without compromising yourself.

Connecting with yourself is the change

Therapy works best when there is room for genuine curiosity. Not a quick fix, but the courage to see yourself clearly—including the parts you tend to hide.

The therapeutic work is most effective when the exploration process itself is at the center. Not because it leads nowhere—but because change begins the moment you show up for yourself differently. This naturally affects your relationships. Even the smallest inner shifts create a noticeably different energy in your everyday life and relationships.

“Mariam has a unique ability to be fully present, and her genuine interest creates a safe space where I could talk openly about difficult topics.

In a specific situation, she helped me let go of control and allow myself to be vulnerable. This strengthened a friendship that I cannot imagine being without today.

Mariam taught me the importance of not just hoping, but actually daring to act on what I want to happen. That was crucial for me—and perhaps especially for those closest to me.”

Chartered psychologist · focusing on psychosomatics and relational patterns

I continuously complement my background in psychology with courses in existential psychotherapy, cognitive psychology, clinical hypnosis, and psychosomatics—allowing me to work at a deeper level than just focusing on behavior.

In my practice, I often meet clients stuck in restricted patterns. In dating, they're skilled at the first state of dating but struggle to show vulnerability. In family relationships, they're caught between emotions such guilt, frustration, and love—swinging between pulling back and overcompensating in their relationships.

What they all have in common is a longing to show up more openly and be seen for who they are—without losing themselves in others' needs or hiding the parts they're afraid to show.
